Season 3, Episode 1

Hasan Kilani, Queer Palestinian activist, writer and consultant on Queer Palestinian Joy and Queer Joy more generally

🎙️ QUEER TALK PODCAST – SEASON 3, EPISODE 1 What does Queer Joy mean when your very existence is political?

In our first episode of Season 3, we sit down with Hasan Kilani, a Queer Palestinian activist, writer, and consultant, to explore the power of Queer Joy. For Palestinians, identity is political from birth. Existing under occupation means navigating a world that constantly seeks to define, restrict, and control your future.

Add Queerness to that reality, and the act of simply existing authentically can become an act of resistance. Now, against the backdrop of genocide in Gaza and ongoing oppression across Palestine, Queer Joy becomes something even more powerful. It becomes survival. Joy is not denial. Joy is not ignorance. Joy is not turning away from suffering. Joy is what allows people to keep going. It is the laughter shared between friends. The celebration of Queer love. The creation of art. The preservation of culture. The refusal to allow oppression to define every moment of your existence. Joy refuels resistance. It reminds us what we are fighting for.

If Queer Palestinians can continue to find moments of joy, connection, creativity, and hope in circumstances many of us can barely imagine, what might we learn from them? How often do we deny ourselves joy because we feel we have not earned it?

How often do we postpone happiness until life becomes easier? Perhaps Queer Joy is not a reward at the end of the struggle. Perhaps it is one of the things that carries us through it. Listen now and join us for a powerful conversation about identity, resistance, liberation, and the radical act of choosing joy. #QueerTalkPodcast #HasanKilani #QueerJoy #QueerPalestinian #FreePalestine  #LGBTQVoices #QueerLiberation #QueerActivism #PalestinianVoices #LGBTQMentalHealth #QueerWellbeing #Intersectionality #QueerCommunity #LGBTQPodcast #QueerResistance  #MentalHealthMatters #HumanRights #DecoloniseMentalHealth #QueerStorytelling #FightingFearCommunity
