Fighting Fear – A Community for Queer People, by Queer People

At Fighting Fear, we are a community “for Queer people, by Queer people.” Our mission, inspired by our founder’s experience in West London’s primary care mental health services, is simple: Fight FEAR and free yourself from anxiety.

Our Vision

We envision a safe, empowering space where LGBTQ+ individuals can access support, knowledge, and connection. In a world that often challenges queer identities, we prioritise secure spaces where people can explore their thoughts and feelings without judgment.

From Idea to Movement

What began as a mission to address anxiety has grown into a movement dedicated to empowering marginalised communities. While our main focus is LGBTQ+ individuals, we also support ethnic and religious minorities, sex workers, asylum seekers and refugees, women, and other marginalised groups, embracing an intersectional approach to social challenges.

What We Offer

We provide holistic support for individuals, couples, groups, and organisations through: - Individual, couples, and group therapy - Consulting and training services - Workshops, wellbeing events, and retreats - Social gatherings and CPD events - Cultural sensitivity and anti-discrimination training

Our Approuch

We employ psychological tools and principles to help you achieve your desired outcomes, fostering resilience and well-being in our Queer community.

Inclusivity

While our primary focus is the Queer community, we welcome anyone seeking support or collaboration. Fighting Fear is your sanctuary, your source of empowerment, and your gateway to a vibrant, accepting community. Join us in transforming fear into confidence, together.

Meet Saquib Ahmad

Saquib Ahmad is the visionary behind Fighting Fear, a dynamic LGBTQ+ organisation. Born in Lahore to a mixed Pakistani-Mauritian heritage and raised in the vibrant city of Manchester, Saquib brings a unique perspective shaped by diverse experiences.

After earning a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from Cardiff University, Saquib’s path led him to psychology, where he has spent over 15 years working across statutory and private mental health services. His expertise began with trauma and expanded to supporting marginalised communities, including LGBTQ+, Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic groups, as well as refugees and asylum seekers.

Saquib is a double-accredited psychotherapist in CBT and EMDR, and he combines clinical excellence with passionate advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights, collaborating with NGOs across Europe to advance mental wellbeing and equity.

Even with his leadership role, Saquib continues to maintain a personal therapy caseload while providing guidance, training, and support to other professionals.

He believes in the transformative power of self-compassion, recognising that it is through compassion that we truly thrive. Saquib’s dedication to mental health and the LGBTQ+ community makes him an inspirational leader and the driving force behind Fighting Fear.
