5. Confidentiality & Safeguarding
All therapy sessions are confidential.
However, confidentiality may be broken without your consent where there is an ethical, safeguarding, or legal duty to do so. This includes situations involving serious risk of harm to you or others, or concerns relating to safeguarding, abuse, or serious criminal activity.
We are not an emergency service. If you require urgent or crisis support, you should contact:

Your GP or family doctor
Or attend the nearest Accident & Emergency department

6. Supervision & Training
Our therapists are trainees working within a layered supervision structure.
This means:
Session material may be discussed in supervision
Any information shared is anonymised where possible
Supervisors are bound by the same confidentiality and data protection obligations
Session Recordings
At most, one session may be recorded for supervision or training
Only small, relevant sections may be viewed
Recordings are securely deleted immediately after use
Recordings are never reused or stored long-term

7. Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell your data.
Your data may be shared only with:
Your allocated therapist
Clinical supervisors within Fighting Fear
Safeguarding authorities or statutory services where legally required
Secure digital service providers (e.g. encrypted video platforms)
All third parties are required to comply with UK GDPR.

8. Data Storage & Security
We take data security seriously and use:
Encrypted digital systems
Password-protected devices and platforms
Restricted access based on role
Secure deletion processes
We regularly review our systems to ensure your data remains protected.

9. How Long We Keep Your Data
In line with UK GDPR, professional guidance, and legal requirements:
Adult therapy records: retained for 7 years after therapy ends
Children and young people: retained until age 25
Screening data where therapy does not begin: retained for up to 6–12 months
Session recordings: deleted immediately after use
Once retention periods expire, data is securely deleted.

You have the right to:

Request deletion (where legally possible)
Restrict or object to processing
Withdraw consent
