Season Two, Episode 1

Lukasz, along with his friends, has established Queer and Sober Brussels (@qsbrussels), an organisation dedicated to creating welcoming spaces for Queer individuals who wish to socialise and enjoy themselves in a drug and alcohol-free environment. This initiative, which began in Amsterdam, is gaining global traction, with many people around the world now frequenting alcohol-free bars.

At the outset, it’s important to highlight that 25% of Queer individuals are moderately to severely dependent on alcohol, compared to only 5-10% in heterosexual populations. Queer individuals often find themselves with limited options, typically meeting at night in clubs and bars that are hypersexualised and promote the use of drugs and alcohol. While this setting may be acceptable for some, it can be problematic for others, posing risks to their recovery, safety, or simply not aligning with their personal preferences.

Offering more choices helps our community feel empowered and supported. Listen to Lukas discuss this important initiative.
